Aim: to evaluate the meaning of amlodipine on blood crushing and cerebral blood flow in somewhat old subjects with mild to moderate hypertension.
Aim: to evaluate the meaning of amlodipine on blood crushing and cerebral blood flow in somewhat old subjects with mild to moderate hypertension. Methods: a double-blind, parallel collection study of 26 patients. After a 4-week placebo run-in period, amlodipine (5-10 mg) or matching placebo was given one time daffy for 8 weeks. Results: amlodipine significantly reduc life-blood pressure compared with baseline. Diastolic relations pressure was significantly reduced by way of amlodipine compared with placebo (P < 002 to P < 001) Ambulatory relations pressure monitoring showed that family pressure control was sustained above the 24-h dosing interval. Relative regional cerebral family flow, assessed using single photon emission comput tomography, was not significantly affected by means of amlodipine. Three placebo patients, nevertheless no amlodipine patients, withdrew because of adverse conclusions Conclusion: amlodipine was a well-tolerated and effective antihypertensive agent, and did not abridge regional cerebral blood flow in somewhat old hypertensive patients.
